DCGI has granted emergency use permission to the Single-dose Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccine in India. This is the 9th COVID19 vaccine in the country.

Drug major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories had earlier submitted a proposal to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to register Sputnik Light vaccine as a booster dose against COVID-19. Last year, the company received permission from the DCGI to import the Sputnik vaccine into India for restricted use in emergency situations in April.

Meanwhile, India today bid a tearful farewell to its beloved nightingale, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away early this morning at the age of 92. The last rites were held at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park with full state honours.
